Rebels and Red Coats - Native Americans & Blacks in the American Revolution
by Simon inthis topic is largely in response to the topic:.
in one post, i said:one possible reason that both native americans and blacks (then slaves) were treated so badly for so long is that both largely sided with the british in the war of independence.
i guess countries have some kind of giant collective consciousness that takes a while to change.. .

Stinky. The point at issue is whether The natives sided with the brits in the war of independence. TJ clearly considers that hypothesis to be absurd enough to belittle the person whp posted it.
TJ stuck his boot in his mouth.

Simon- 5 / Opposition- Nil
.."I've read some totally inane stuff on this board, but Simon? What you said here totally takes the cake. I mean... you have GOTTT to be kidding!"....
Pretty absolute statement there, definitely conveys the impression that the possibility of extensive Native alliance with the Brits is ridiculous.
..."And "Native Americans sided with the british? Pardon me for asking, but isn't it a bit early in the day for you to be drinking? There may have been an occasional alliance"...
Clearly there were no "occassional" alliances, rather, extensive alliances. Again, the passage: "Native Americans sided with the british? Pardon me for asking, but isn't it a bit early in the day for you to be drinking?" conveys the distinct impression the writer considers the possibility preposterous. Apparently not so preposterous after all.
Interesting post Simon.

A lot of people have the same reason for leaving the org. They feel personally miserable, and they feel like they can never attain the levels of purity required, and so feel condemned.
The reason they cant obtain the required standard is because the standards are beyond human attainment. But they are trained not to examine the doctrine of their controllers to see if it is unreasonable, Rather, they are trained to condemn themselves for failing to reach the required level.

The level of human suffering is evidence enough for me. The guilt levels of people in the org are way up. The fear levels. The shame levels.
If it really WAS Gods organization there would be a superlative degree of genuine joy, love and sponteneity.
This is not the case. What "sponteneity" there is is of the manufactured kind. The "joy" is forced. The "love" conditional. The "service to fellow man" compelled.
From where I sit, if thats Gods org I want no brooke with it.

Organization (Part 1 & 2)--1938 Watchtower
by onacruse inhere's a "normalized" copy of the pivotal 1938 watchtower articles that centralized authority in brooklyn and got rid of 'elective elders.
' these are based on .pdf copies of the originals, but aren't exact renditions (for example, some abbreviations and punctuations have been modified, paragraph numbers omitted).. june 1, 1938. .
w38 163. organization.

Well Craigy baby, Ive read them and Ive got a couple of questions.
Firstly, the articles condemn "Elected Elders" who laud it over the flock, acting as "bosses". I think theres a bit of transferral going on with such accusations. What the hell was uncle Joe Rutherford if he was not a BOSS ??
Secondly, the articles, in numerous places, condemn "heirachically structured" organizations as "Satanic". The pyramidlike org is the work of the devil. But what are "Zone overseers", "District overseers" "Circuit overseers" and "Congregation overseers" if they are not positions in a HEIRACHICAL AUTHORITY?? You can call a boss a "servant" as much as you like, but a boss is still a Boss.
No wonder 3 quarters of the membership stopped attending. They voted with their feet.

..."1.Severe impairment in reciprocal social interaction
(at least two of the following)
(a) inability to interact with peers
(b) lack of desire to interact with peers
(c) lack of appreciation of social cues
(d) socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior"....Well, this first one seems to apply across the board. A through D. Thats him. But all the rest doesnt apply. Except the slowness in learning. He reads and writes poorly.Thiough I notice that, if hes interested he can read a whole lot better than he does generally.
This causes me to wonder what the shrink is thinking. Seems totally inappropriate.
Thanks Brumm

Well Brumm. I dont know what hes doing thats unusual. He seems normal enough to me, but his mother gets him involved in all this psychology and medication stuff. Im skeptical myself. The only thing I can say about him is that hes incapable of keeping friends, and hes very non focused on general things, but tends to obsess over things that do interest him. No different from myself really.
What are the supposed symptons of Aspergers?

Now whats this "Aspergers" I keep hearing about? Is it the latest "In thing"? The latest rage "psyche illness" replacing "Bi Polar"?
It seems to be an "In" disease at the moment. My sons being going to a Psychologist, sent by the school, because he talked about suicide to two of his class mates. Anyway, the Psychologist suggests that the lad might not be "ADD" (as hes been diagnozed) but should be reevaluated with an eye to a diagnosys of "Aspegers syndrome". The word "Aspergers" has been bandied at myself by a doctor as well, and I have a close associate who is diagnozed Aspergers.
So, anyone know what its all about?
